Development of a software to generate texts using AI

In November 2021, well before the advent of chatGPT, we launched Cedille.ai, a software application (SaaS) based on artificial intelligence, which generates, summarizes and rewrites texts. The idea was to make life easier for French- and German-speaking companies and individuals involved in text generation, by making publicly available what was, at the time, the largest language model in French and German.
We have therefore developed not only our own artificial intelligence, but also an ergonomic, aesthetic and responsive web interface, to offer the general public simplified access to text generation using AI.
In addition, we have developed a clear, easy-to-implement API for companies wishing to add Cedille to their internal processes.
Why did Cedille leave its mark on the history of AI text generators?
At the time Cedille was launched, there was no language model that performed in French alone. This is what enabled us to position ourselves as a major local player in AI text generation, even in the face of the giant Open AI. When it came out, Cedille easily competed with their biggest multilingual model, GPT-2.5, for text generation in French.
Throughout the project, our team strived to publish a model of the highest quality by filtering out as much of the toxic data for Cedille's training as possible. This process was made possible by a combination of Natural Language Processing (NLP) and careful manual examination of data samples.
By making our model available as open source in French and German, we have contributed to improving the generation of texts by artificial intelligence for the community.
What's more, this project won the 1st prize in 'Innovation' at the Best of the Web 2022 and enabled us to take part in the RTS Ideas Forum in October 2023. Not bad for a Swiss SME!
High-performance results within everyone's reach
Beyond the innovative aspect of Cedille, the main complexity of language models lies in their use and the settings required to obtain consistent, high-performance results on a regular basis. At the time of Cedille's launch, these technologies were still complex to use: users had to understand how they worked, adjust the parameters, find the right instructions, and so on.
Cedille simplifies this by making this technology accessible to everyone, without any prior knowledge, offering an ergonomic and easy-to-use interface. All the user has to do is select the task they want to perform (summarize, write a story, paraphrase, etc.) and in just a few clicks they get the result they want.
Through this project, we were able to demonstrate our skills in API development and Artificial Intelligence integration, a service that we provided to several European customers wishing to incorporate a powerful text generation solution directly into their internal tools.
Cedille is also a fine example of our skills in designing and building web applications or SaaS (Software as a Service).
